Center for Economic Geology Research
The Center for Economic Geology Research is a Center of Excellence at the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources. The center is made up of a group of research scientists who apply knowledge in geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, policy, and economics to explore solutions to challenges in Wyoming’s energy industries.
Research scientists actively collaborate with industry, the state of Wyoming, local governments, national laboratories, and other stakeholders to:
- Characterize Wyoming’s subsurface resources for carbon dioxide sequestration.
- Develop forward-looking strategies to transition Wyoming to a low-carbon energy future.
- Identify opportunities to diversify Wyoming’s economy, including options for value-added resources in industrial waste streams.
- Screen and develop novel uses for Wyoming’s distinctive geology, including energy storage and critical mineral development.
